{An outward expression of an inward faith} Our Family Baptism

Yesterday was a monumental day for us - we, as a family, were baptized! Of course the weather was less than desirable but Jesus suffered a painful crucifixion on the cross so we figured we could endure cold temperatures and even colder water.

The Savior taught, “Pray in your families unto the Father, always in my name, that your wives and your children may be blessed” (3 Nephi 18:21). In our home we believe that f
amilies that pray together build eternal relationships on a foundation of strength, comfort, inspiration, and love.

Originally, it was just Caide and I who were planning on getting baptized. It was awe inspiring to see Joe, Scar and Shi to decide they too wanted to be baptized as well! First up was Joe and Caide.

Scar decided she wanted to be baptized by herself, next.

Finally, it was time for Shi and I. Let me tell you the water, oh my was it freezing!

We had previously invited some family members to come and witness the baptism but it was not until the night before that I even thought about providing any drinks, food or cake for them. Since this was part of a large event at church there was food available for purchase but I didn't want our family to feel like they had to spend money, that was NOT what the day was about. So at about 7 pm the night before Joe and I headed up to Walmart in hopes of finding a suitable cake. Of course, we did not BUT the awesome cake decorator said she would help us out and about an hour before we had to arrive we went and picked up this beautiful cupcake cake. Yes, it tasted as good as it looked!

Shi and her friend even took some of the cupcakes around to the other families who were celebrating someones baptism.

This collage shows everyone who participated in the baptism.
