{Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy} Our Hydrocephalus Journey

This post will be rather short and to the point as it has been a long day. Today we met with Dr. Thomas Forget with Mercy Medical here in St. Louis. After discussing Joe's condition with him we both feel a lot more at ease. Dr. Forget even took the time to review the CT scans with us, explaining each one to us. He believes Joe was born with aqueductal stenosis and that he brain has finally just had enough. Makes total sense!

Complete diagnosis: Obstructive Hydrocephalus, secondary to congenital aqueductal stenosis.

Anyway, the Doctor feels the best treatment is to perform an Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy. He, in great detail, explained the procedure and the possible complications and/or side effects. Below is pretty much what they will be doing. It looks scary but the neurosurgeons know what they are doing and we have much faith in a positive outcome.

While we wait for the surgery date to fall upon us, Joe has been put on light duty with reduced work which is great because I worry about him every moment that he is away. So if any of his co-workers are reading this...I am trusting you all to keep an eye on him. :)
